Diamonds winking

Diamonds winking on the frost tinged grass
shimmers a blanket of wonder to the dawning day.

Mesmerized,
I am drawn into their light,
the glint of how
to keep that spot of sparkle alive.

What hardened lumps of coal
had to be swallowed,
compressed by the flames of challenge,
wrought, wrung and molded
into the diamond-hearted
center of me?

Lessons learned pale in compare

as I relax as a single
drop
in the treasured meadow
of this day's forever rise.
